CAOFEIDIAN
An automated container terminal will be built at China’s Port of Caofeidian in Hebei province – Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry and the port have agreed to co-operate in the terminal’s construction. The two-berth terminal will be built in two phases, the first coming on line in 2011. Capacity will initially be an annual 300,000teu, ramping up to 750,000teu if demand rises. ZPMC will provide six automated ship-to-shore cranes and nine rail-mounted gantry cranes.
HAZIRA
Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (MPSEZL) will invest at least $215M in developing non-LNG facilities at the Port of Hazira in India’s Gujarat state. Three berths with a joint capacity of 20M tonnes a year will initially be built by 2012 and will handle bulk, break-bulk, container and liquid cargoes. The port’s overall master plan provides for 13 berths.
