Deltaport’s Third Berth Is Open!
Port Metro Vancouver’s Deltaport container terminal – Canada’s largest – opened its new $400M third berth in January, boosting capacity by 50%
A key element of the country’s Asia-Pacific Gateway concept, Deltaport already handles 45% of the west coast container trade. The new berth ramps up capacity by 600,000teu, from 1.2M teu to 1.8M teu, and adds about 20ha of container storage.
Also making their Deltaport debut – said to be a first for the Americas – are three quad cranes. These machines can lift two 40ft or four 20ft containers in a single lift, up to a total weight of 80 tonnes.
