DPC’s traditional hydrographic roundup coincides with Oceanology International 2010 – and we asked event manager James Coleman to tell us something about the show and why you should attend...


Oceanology and hydrographic surveying lie at the heart of a myriad of marine operations – how could the offshore oil and gas industry, safe use of ports and harbours, protection of our marine environment, defence science and technology and the new marine renewable energy industry be developed without this formidable duo?

They represent the very core of Oceanology International 2010 (OI-2010), the world’s meeting place for the marine science and ocean technology community, and explain why thousands of engineers, scientists, legislators, policy makers and management professionals with responsibility across all of the ocean science and marine technology spectrum will gather at London’s ExCeL between Tuesday 11 and Thursday 13 March – I urge you to join them.

Both the Oceanology exhibition and conference are free to attend. The exhibition hosts over 500 suppliers of products and services from around the world, and this year’s conference is a true milestone event with an extensive technical programme. Navigation and positioning, hydrography / geophysics, marine environment, geotechnics and ocean observation all have their dedicated streams.
