OCEAN carriers can obtain a 20% saving per container if they get enough local cargo for direct services to Baltic ports, a shipping consultant said today.
Speaking at the Baltic Container Conference in Gdansk, Steve Wray of Ocean Shipping Consultants estimated the cost of shipping a feu container from the Far East directly to Gdansk at €1,185 ($1,610), against €1,469 for transhipment and feedering via Bremerhaven.
